You may delete content you create (such as messages) directly from the platform at any time before requesting account deletion. When you request account deletion, we permanently remove your personally identifiable information (PII) from our systems. The following describes what we delete and what we retain.
6.1 Information We Delete
We permanently delete the following from our database:
Date of birth
Address
Email address
Username (replaced with an anonymized placeholder)
Password
6.2 Information We Retain
We retain chat messages you exchanged with other users in trade conversations. However, we anonymize your identity: we replace your username with a generic placeholder (e.g., “Deleted User”) so that your messages are no longer tied to you. We do this to ensure that other users retain access to the conversation history they shared with you, which is necessary for dispute resolution, trade records, and continuity of our service.
If you want specific messages deleted before you delete your account, please delete them directly from the conversation.
6.3 Other Retention
We delete the personal information described in Section 6.1 and do not retain it for legal or security purposes. We may, however, retain other types of information for longer periods when required by law, such as transaction records, audit logs, or data subject to a legal hold. Database backups may retain your data briefly before being overwritten; once identifying information is removed, backup data is put beyond use and not processed for any other purpose.
7. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Age Restrictions
CardShift is designed for users 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18. If we discover that we have collected personal information from a minor, we will promptly delete that information.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes through our platform or via email.
